I have spent much of my life single, not entirely by choice but shaped by how I grew up. I built barriers to keep myself safe from external influences, determined to live life my way. Those barriers protected me, but they also meant I never sought out or had the opportunity to form personal relationships. Without those supports, I was left without a framework to understand what intimacy really means in the greater world around me.
At times I searched out transactional encounters, believing I was ready physically. What those experiences revealed was that my body might have been prepared, but my mind—the emotional support I needed—was not yet aligned. That gap taught me something essential: intimacy cannot be reduced to physical readiness. My body was ready. My mind wasn’t.
Through ritual and exploration, I began to uncover what my mind and body truly need to progress into intimacy the right way—not society’s way. Breath, scent, movement, and ritual objects became languages of listening. They showed me that presence matters more than performance, resonance more than urgency. These practices allowed me to author intimacy for myself, and in doing so, I discovered that others might need the same permission: to look beyond society’s script and reclaim intimacy as wisdom.
And then, unexpectedly, one person entered my life who helped me see and learn my own physical and sexual self more clearly. Their presence supported me in breaking down the barriers I had unintentionally built, and in doing so, they helped me begin writing a new chapter I hadn’t anticipated. This blog space is not only a record of my solitary journey, but also a testament to how witnessing and support can open new pathways.
My hope through these blogs is simple: that even if one man finds direction, information, or help in navigating what intimacy truly means, then I have accomplished something. These writings are not about proving expertise or claiming authority. They are about taking a chance on myself, reflecting my journey outward, and offering it as a mirror for others. If my testimony helps even one reader look beyond society’s script and begin to author intimacy in their own body, then this work has served its purpose.
